Fortran’s Battery Back-Up System (BBS) have proven itself year after year in many provinces across the country. Featuring an 1100 Watt inverter, Fortran’s BBS is more than able to handle the typical loads of an intersection. Housed in a compact design, the S Cabinet (most popular model) doesn’t require much real estate and can be mounted in a variety of ways, depending on the application.

description

Fortran’s Battery Back-up Systems feature an 1100 Watt inverter and can be configured to use 2, 4, 6 or more batteries depending on the total intersection load. Each system can also be configured with different battery capacities to vary the total amount of run time for the intersection during a power outage.

Each assembly also features two 100 watt heater mats and an exhaust fan; these ensure the batteries remain at a fairly consistent temperature, thus extending their life span. However, the environmental controls are switched off during a power outage as to not drain the batteries and shorten the intersection run time.

Each assembly also features 6 sets of dry contacts that are all individually programmable. These contacts allow the user to switch the intersection into flash, send battery alarms back to the TOC (Traffic Operations Centre) or control other auxiliary devices inside the cabinet assembly.

Each inverter unit also features serial and Ethernet connections, allowing for a variety of remote monitoring and integration options.
