Our Commitment to
Research and Development
Research and development is the cornerstone of our success.
Fortran continues to make a serious commitment to R&D to ensure our on-going
leadership within the traffic industry. These are some of our innovations...
Fastracs: One of Fortran's key initiatives was to invest in the development of the new
Fastracs system software. The result: a central traffic control system delivering
real-time traffic control through an enhanced Windows®-based graphical user interface.
Real-Time TSD: This real-time, time-space diagram provides graphical feedback of traffic
signal timing plans. This Fortran innovation enables traffic engineers to dynamically make
adjustments or corrections to increase the efficiency of traffic flow.
16-Channel MUX Project: The 16-Channel MUX is an electronic device that allows T2000C or
Fastracs software to communicate with and control up to 16 intersections over
single-pair telephone cable. Fortran developed this device to ensure that operation of
centralized traffic signal control systems remain economically viable in the future while
providing the enhanced traffic control desired. |
