| Fortran's History
In 1954, our parent company, Guild Electric Limited, was created to provide
contracting services to the electrical construction industry. Shortly thereafter, Guild
also began providing installation and ongoing maintenance for traffic signal systems. As
Guild became a recognized force in the industry, it established a Traffic Division to
service the traffic departments of municipal, regional and provincial governments.
In the late 1970's, Fortran Traffic Systems Limited was
formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of Guild Electric Limited. Fortran's purpose: to
specialize and expand upon Guild Electric's expertise in traffic control.
In 1986, Fortran acquired the Traffic Division of General
Electric Canada Limited (CGE). Positioned as one of North America's industry leaders,
Fortran now had the resources and support to bid on large, turnkey, computerized traffic
control projects.
Fortran and Guild have successfully combined their resources
to lead the industry with over 40 years of combined project management experience and a
solid reputation for implementing projects on time and on budget. Fortran and Guild ...partners
in success.
