Actelis Networks - ITS Network Solutions

The need for Intelligent Transportation Systems has become a top priority for Municipalities wanting to improve traffic monitoring and public safety. One of the core underlying technologies that allow these systems to be networked back to a Traffic Operations Center is the Ethernet Access Device (EAD).

Actelis Networks ML600 family of award-winning, field-proven EADs significantly reduces the cost of deploying and networking Intelligent Traffic Systems by providing up to 100 Mbps of symmetrical service over the existing copper plant, which is already in place supporting today's traffic signal systems.

Some of the new requirements for Intelligent Transportation Systems include traffic monitoring cameras, dynamic message signs, red light enforcement, and a variety of sensors that are added to existing street cabinets. The traffic controllers themselves have also been improved and are now supporting standard Ethernet interfaces for better, more efficient communications. The traditional low-speed modems, used to connect traffic controller cabinets on serial copper lines, do not support these new generation products being deployed today.

In addition to standard traffic cabinets that are connected via copper lines, Wi-Fi transceivers have been placed on top of traffic signals to aid police and fire communications. This requires backhauling the city-supplied public wireless access service to the Traffic Operations Center.
